Who doesn’t love a good French fry? There are hundreds of restaurants to choose from, but not all French fries are created equal. After a thorough (and tasty) analysis, we have compiled a list of our favorite Fast-Food fries.

10. In-N-Out Burger

In-N-Out has some of the thinnest fries we’ve seen. They’re crunchy and salty but lack overall taste, which is why we ranked them #10. They also need to be eaten hot since the taste seems to degrade even more as they cool. As a tip, you can order the fries “Animal Style” and they will come served with melted American cheese, grilled onions, and thousand island dressing.

9. Sonic

Sonic comes in at #9 with their respectable fries. Relatively salty, gold, and good with ketchup. While this is a french fry comparison, they have fantastic tater tots and would likely win a tater tot matchup.

8. Wendy’s

Wendy’s switched over to a “natural cut” fry a few years ago, likely in an attempt to seem healthier? We’re not sure. Either way, the new fries are good but not excellent – landing them a spot at #8. Dip them in a frosty, however, and suddenly they become great.

7. Raising Canes

Founded in Louisiana in 1996, Raising Cane’s comes in at #7 with their crinkle cut fries. Complement the fries with some of their famous “Canes Sauce” or ketchup and you’ll have yourself a very good combo.

6. Popeyes

We’re not sure what Popeyes put in their “Cajun” french fry seasoning, but it works. They’re salty, peppered, and crispy, which are all things that make a great fry at #6.

5. Chick-Fil-A

Chick-Fil-A has the best waffle cut fries around, giving them the #5 spot. You can dip the in one of their many sauces to add flavor, and they come with plenty of salt. You can also order them “extra crispy” to make them exactly that: extra crispy.

4. Whataburger

Whataburger fries are plain, but they check all the boxes and they’re consistently good, earning them the #4 spot. Pair them with Whataburger’s ketchup or spicy ketchup and you’ll tear through your order quickly.

3. Checkers/Rally’s

Checkers and Rally’s are known for their seasoned fries, and for good reason – we ranked them #3. They have plenty of flavor punch and they’re surprisingly addictive, so make sure you order a big size.

2. Arby’s

Arby’s has the crunchiest, curliest fries around and they’re great. Top them with some Arby’s Sauce or ketchup and you’ll be hard pressed to find anything better. Coming in at #2, they were a very close 2nd to our number one pick.

1. McDonald's

It’s hard to beat McDonald's fries, and with thousands of locations all over the world, you can get them literally anywhere. Always salty, crispy, and perfectly golden brown. They also cost less than $3 for a large order. What more could you want?

I ate lunch at a Shake Shack in Dallas this week, maybe the first time for me. The burger was great, but the fries were better. crinkle-cut and crisp. I remarked at the time that I thought they were the best fries I'd eaten.

I haven't tried those, might have to give them a shot and update the list.
