There are many factors when ranking the most dangerous mountains in Colorado. Exposure to deadly falls, exposure to weather, remoteness, altitude, and difficulty staying on trail are just some factors. Long's Peak in Rocky Mountain National Park close to Estes Park, Colorado is considered one of the deadliest, not because it is much harder technically, but there is exposure and one of the more popular mountains. Long's gets a higher level of traffic, many without much climbing experience. There are spots where a little slip means severe injury or death.
Here is a picture of my group returning off Long's along the ledges.
Here is the ManLife ranking of the 10 hardest mountain climbs in Colorado. They are all 14-thousand footers, we realize there are some more technical mountains at lower elevations.
